Crackle Fern Luminaire

This “Crackle Fern Luminaire” brightens a space with subtle light & vibrant pattern.  As a box light prototype still being tested, it is intended to be portable, with an auxiliary rechargeable battery.

Crackle fern refers to the processes used to develop this design. When a potato starch resist dries on fabric, it cracks like mud in the sun, leaving spaces for dye to enter. That photo silk-screened pattern was overlaid with another silk screened image of ferns on velvet.
