As a public artist, Suzanne creates installations that draw attention to some aspect of the natural world & evoke a strong sense of place by stimulating both personal & communal memory. Multiculturally based, they celebrate our delightful differences & similarities, inviting individuals to see themselves in the artwork & as an integral part our global community.
Her experience working with architects, contractors & established craftspeople assures the artwork is of the highest quality, executed on time and within budget while capturing the eye & imagination of the viewer, delighting the senses & stimulating introspection.

When short listed in the Public Art selection process, one is required to demonstrate their idea so the review committee can determine which of the finalists’ proposal is most appropriate for their particular situation. A proposal may or may not be accepted as shown, or even at all. If an artist submits more than one proposal, only one might be chosen. Occasionally, an entire public art project will be eliminated, even after months of work & meetings.
These are proposals that were not chosen.
These garden stakes add a spot of color, poetry or whimsey to the landscape. Woven in plastic mesh, they provide an instant screen to support sweet peas or a fence to keep foliage safe from deer.
This collection of photographs features primarily “transparent overlays”.
Colored & patterned fabrics were created utilizing various surface design techniques such as dyeing, discharging, stamping, resisting, block or screen printing & painting with dye or fabric paints. My photographs were then overlayed & recorded photographically. The images are not digitally enhanced or colored except the last four images in “Valentine Series”.
These photographs can be printed on paper, as giclees or on glass for free standing panels or in light fixtures.

Producing personal work & as an art instructor, I have enjoyed exploring different materials, techniques & modes of expression. I applied painting, printmaking & collage techniques traditionally & as surface design on fabric, steel & glass.
Experimenting with various fibers & fiber techniques I produced yardage, wall hangings, clothing & accessories, soft jewelry, soft sculpture & felt.

Soft jewelry is a tactile experience both in the making & the wearing- light weight & sensual. Starting with three-dimensional realistic constructions of flowers with no raw edges, a variety of neck and headwear followed.
Live flower necklaces add fragrance.
On a trip to Mexico, the beach at Bahia Kino was a treasure chest of seashells ready to become necklaces.
An invitation to use a collection of antique buttons & fabrics prompted a large series of pins, only a few recorded.
