The client, having spent decades in the Pacific where mahogany is widely used, chose it for the stairs because it is incredibly durable (rot resistant), strong & beautiful. We wanted to feature these gorgeous, laminated slabs unencumbered with an exterior railing.
The wall railing was custom made for the space so one can rest their elbow on it if going down with both hands full.
The footing is firm, not slippery & good exercise on a daily basis.
