Glue Chipped Lazy Susan

This client wanted an elegant serving solution that would enhance her glue chipped glass top dining table.  Hot pads & trivets detracted from the elegance of the table but a much finer chipped pattern on this turnaround complements her table beautifully. Gorgeous and functional (laminated to tempered glass) dishes can be placed directly from the oven & the glass is easy to clean.

Glue chipping is an ancient process. As rabbit skin glue dries on glass, it shrinks causing the glass to chip off in feather-like patterns similar to frost on a window. The thinner the glue, the finer the pattern. A thicker layer creates larger chips resulting in more bold patterns. In this case, the contrast of the large patterns on the table and the finer patterns on the Lazy Susan makes each surface even more interesting.
